HEAVY METAL MACHINES PLAYING A MATCH
HMM is a tactical super fast-paced game that challenges your reflexes, where two teams of 4 insane pilots gather to fight for a powerful bomb to deliver it to the opponent's base. Gather your team, choose the best composition, and achieve victory!
Selecting the Pilots
Before starting a match, you'll have to pick your pilot on a screen we call the "Pick Screen."
If you play in a team, chat with your teammates and pay close attention to the team's composition when picking a pilot. Check out some possibilities of different types of formations:
Classic Composition: 1 Transporter / 2 Interceptors / 1 Support
In this formation, your team will have two interceptors for hunting the opponent's transporter and support. The support should remain close to your transporter so that the bomb can get to the enemy base.
or
Offensive Composition: 1 Transporter or Support / 3 Interceptors
Here, your team will go after opponents aggressively, not letting them play properly! Your team will kill them all the time. For transporting the bomb, use a fast support or a resistant transporter.
Defensive Composition: 1 Transporter / 1 Interceptor / 2 Supports
This formation is for playing safe. Having 2 supports can mean to resist till the end. Also, choose a resistant transporter and an interceptor that can cause lots of damage.
Extreme Support Composition: 4 Supports
This formation is more conservative. Yes, 4 supports can win a match, even though it's not the most recommended setup. With this formation, the team will undoubtedly be able to survive for long, but won't cause a lot of damage.
Upon selecting your pilot, you'll need to keep the selection until the end of the entire match.
A match is composed of up to 5 rounds, and the team who scores 3 times wins, taking in average 9 minutes to end.Damage and Repair (Life and Death)
The amount of damage a pilot can take before dying is represented by the life bar, displayed just above your machine. Support class pilots can use their weapons to help you recover, and there's also the possibility of self-repair with any pilot, after being out of combat for a few seconds.
When the life of a pilot reaches zero, it'll get destroyed and will end up impacting the group negatively by staying out of the match for a few seconds, but don't worry: you'll reappear in a few seconds and will get to pick the place to respawn, which we call Rebuilding. So try not to be killed to keep your team from being in a disadvantage.
Arena
In Heavy Metal Machines, our pilots fight for a bomb on 4 different arenas, and there are many more to come. You'll be placed in a match in one of these arenas by joining the Casual queue, and will be able to choose one if you make a custom match.

Before entering one of our arenas, we recommend you to play the Training, as well as to keep the Instructor activated. Both are a quick introduction to HMM's basic concepts.
Armed machines
Weapons are special powers that are exclusive to each pilot. Each pilot drives a machine with unique characteristics, used to defeat your enemies, protect your team and traverse through the Metal City arenas. These weapons are fundamental to reaching the game's objectives and winning matches. The pilots have different weapons. Some shoot projectiles or laser, others can make area damage. There are those who specialize in crowd control, being able to push, pull, block and even freeze enemies. On the other hand, supports can make short, medium or long distance repairs.
Your Weapon 1 will be the "Q" key on your keyboard (by default). Often, it'll be the most utilized weapon. It doesn't matter if your weapon is short or long range. It usually shoots a type of projectile and has a quicker warm-up and cooldown duration.
The Weapon 2 will be the "W" key on your keyboard (by default). This weapon is best characterized by the personality coming from the pilot's role. It causes more damage and has a longer cooldown, just as it has greater power for crowd control, repair, and evasion.
The Weapon 3 will be the "E" key on your keyboard (by default). It increases the speed for some pilots and can cause damage to opponents or leave a trail of repairing objects.
The Special Weapon will be the "R" key on your keyboard (by default). All actions in a match lead to the apex, which is the Special Weapon. By using this resource at the correct time within the match, you can determine who wins and who loses. This weapon charges during the fights and can cause a considerable amount of damage, repair or crowd control.
How to move on the map
The basic commands for Heavy Metal Machines are: Q, W, E, R, and Spacebar. They are, respectively, the commands for Weapon 1, 2, 3, Special and grab/release the bomb.
With the mouse, you can accelerate the machine forward (left click), go in reverse (right click), and steer (moving the mouse). Combining these commands, you can adjust your speed and aim your weapons on your enemies, diving headlong into the battles.
Winning a Match
The first team to score three times will take the victory!
At the end of the match, there'll be a screen with the battle's endgame stats: total damage, bomb possession, total repair, and crowd control done. Note that there's a button for submitting feedback. If interested, click on it and send suggestions to our development team.
